Real Solar Time vs Clock Time

● Active

Every reading cast for a customer born outside the 120°E reference meridian is composed in both versions — clock time and real-solar-time correction. The customer chooses which corresponds to lived experience. Anonymous, consent-based.

Samples accumulated1 / 5,000

First public quarterly report planned after 5,000 samples (estimated 2026 Q4 / 2027 Q1).

Why this exists

For a thousand years, the Chinese metaphysics community has continuously debated several core methodological questions, never reaching consensus — real solar time versus clock time, whether to invert the Southern Hemisphere month pillar, year-pillar attribution near solar-term boundaries, Zi-hour attribution, and how to handle time uncertainty.

Each divergence means that the customer's "true" chart may have different versions. The traditional response has been: the practitioner, drawing on his lineage, decides which methodology to apply. The customer accepts the lineage's judgment.

In the AGI era, this unilateral approach is failing.

ChatGPT knows the argument of every school. AI can mimic any master's tone. In the AGI era, a practitioner's claim — "I am of such-and-such lineage" — has been commoditised.

What remains scarce is not knowledge. It is judgment — judgment formed through the accumulated echoes of many real lives.

But no school of Bazi — including the most classical traditions — has ever systematically accumulated this judgment as data.

Our proposal

For every reading with a legitimate methodological branch, Finn Tang's Reading Studio does not unilaterally choose. We compose both versions (or multiple versions) for you, and ask which one rings true against your own life.

Your choice — anonymously, with your consent — contributes to The Hallmark Institute's empirical methodology research database.

Each quarter, we publish the findings.

This approach advances Chinese metaphysics from philosophical debate to empirical inquiry.

Active research

Programme #1 · Real Solar Time vs Clock Time

Active · First sample case: Bruce Lee (sample reading)

Every Reading Studio chart cast for a customer born outside the 120°E reference meridian is composed in both versions — clock time and real-solar-time correction. After reading both, you choose which one corresponds.

First public quarterly report expected after 5,000+ samples accumulate (estimated 2026 Q4 / 2027 Q1).

Future programmes: Southern Hemisphere month pillar (priority for the Australia / New Zealand market), solar-term boundary, Zi-hour attribution, time uncertainty handling, and Daily Almanac × World Events correlation research.

The ultimate direction — gratitude and compassion

Every database, every study, every publication of The Hallmark Institute ultimately points in two directions: gratitude and compassion.

We study methodology not to win arguments between schools. We study methodology so that each customer can see more clearly that "the shape I have was given." When that is seen, gratitude naturally arises.

We accumulate customer-selection data not for commercial extraction. We accumulate it to convert a millennium of privately-held practitioner judgment into a public asset — to leave it as a gift to future practitioners, future researchers, future seekers. This is compassion practised at the institutional level.

When AGI has disassembled professional identity, what humanity most needs is not smarter AI. It is deeper gratitude and wider compassion.

All the work of The Hallmark Institute is a footnote to these two.

Our commitments

  • Anonymity — All customer selection data is stripped of identifying information; only chart-structural features are retained.
  • Transparency — Quarterly research reports publish aggregated findings.
  • Consent — You can opt out of the database; your reading itself is unaffected.
  • Academic openness — Future data partnerships with university anthropology departments, cultural research centres (anonymised).
